stepping into the blog world...

pinterst has introduced me to many wonderful teaching ideas and tons of awesome blogs. soooooo...i decided to dip my toes into the blogging world to share my ideas and get some feedback on whether they are crazy or not!

much of my pinterest "research" {ya...that's what i'm callin' it} has been to find information on anchor charts and math notebooks. this past weekend, i created a bunch of anchor charts for reading. thank you to all of the wonderful people who have shared their ideas for me to steal copy. hehehehe (pictures to follow in another post)

my math notebooking research was based on a need to get my little lovlies to be more organized. i am so tired of the "i-can't-find-it" mantra!!! so i'm jumping into math notebooking this trimester...starting tomorrow! (pictures to follow in another post)

now...i know my little lovies and how much they love to do work {HA}! i know that everything they do needs to be graded or they will not even attempt to do it...gotta love them hormones! {hehe} so here's my plan for grading the math notebooks. i want them to have the notebooks at home to complete their homework (and for some so that their parents can see that i have taught them the correct way to do their work)...so they can't be graded after school. i plan to check 6 books a day and assign completion grades of plus, check, or minus. this will be done the week following work being assigned. {since i am starting the notebooks tomorrow, i will do the first check on monday.} this gives them over the weekend to finish anything.

as far as using a rubric, i plan to collect all notebooks every other friday and complete a rubric for a two week time period. i found an awesome rubric created by janaye at tales of frogs and cupcakes. you can check it out here.

ok...i have officially procrastinated long enough. today is the last day of my month long vacation, and i still have tons to do before going back to school tomorrow. {sooooooo jealous of those of you who are on spring break right now!!!}

ttfn!
